Mon Tendre Amour (My Tender Love), Photography & Digital Painting, Monoprint 1/1

£ 490.00 GBP

'Mon Tendre Amour' (My Tender Love) from the 'Generations' Series of portraits of my good friend Frederique.

The original composition was inspired by a classic Jeanne D'Arc painting. I also merged some facial images from her daughter Charlotte to create a 'generations' portrait of mother and daughter. The main composition is based on several great images of Freddy with her head in her hands.

I have recently re-visited the original artwork to try out a new photo paint technique where the image is smudged and smeared by hand using large digital paint brushes. I am still experimenting with this technique but I have been intrigued by the completely differing results. The expressions take on a life of their own and although essentially photography I love the painted swirls and smears which give the image an ethereal and surreal beauty.

I have titled each artwork with excerpts and lyrics from 'La Chanson des Vieux Amants' written by the Belgian Singer/Songwriter Jacques Brel. I have chosen works and phrases according to the final artwork, amending and re-working as necessary.

The artworks listed are for XLarge 30 inch Unique Monoprints.
